African Drumming Residency

I am delighted to share that our school will be hosting an African Drumming Residency by Sangea African Drumming Academy from January 27 to January 31! This engaging program will provide all students with a unique opportunity to experience the vibrant rhythms and rich traditions of African drumming.

This residency will serve as a wonderful introduction to our school’s learning and activities surrounding Black History Month in February, helping students connect to African culture through music, storytelling, and hands-on participation.

Program Details

  • Classes:
    • Grades 1–9: Two drumming sessions per student.
    • Kindergarten: One drumming session.
  • Cost:
    • $5.00 per student (Grades 1–9).
    • $2.50 per Kindergarten student.

Please make your payment on PowerSchool by Wednesday January 22.

Benefits for Students

Drumming is a dynamic way for students to explore the connections between music, culture, and history. This program will:

  • Enhance students’ understanding of African heritage and traditions.
  • Develop motor skills, rhythm, and teamwork through active participation.
  • Foster creativity, confidence, and a sense of community.

We believe this experience will be enriching and memorable for all students.

Feel free to drop by and watch a drumming class!
